Where in the World is William Powers?

Obviously, I have a little more research to do for my fourth great grandfather, William Powers. He died young at the age of 36 from injuries suffered while serving in the War of 1812. His wife, Lucinda "Lucy" Pixley applied for a pension in lieu of bounty land. 

I found William Powers pension records on Fold 3, but do you think it would give a marriage date and place for William and Lucy? No. It did give me a marriage date,"on or about the 10th of February 1818, and name of her second husband, Walter Hyde. William left six children under the age of 15.

William Powers is a common name and I have yet to single my William out in the 1790 and 1800 U.S. Federal Census. The other record I would like to find is William's and Lucy's marriage.

Where in the World is Alexander Glover (1756-1826)?

Researching before the first United States Federal Census in 1790 finds researchers using other records that place our ancestors in a specific locale.  This is where one must search for land records, military records, jury lists, and other records.  I have been compiling my "Where in the World" series for awhile now.  Currently, I am to the point where I need to add records besides census ones.  The table below is for my fourth great grandfather, Alexander Glover, who married Sarah Salisbury.

Where in the World is Mary Wrightweesner?

Where in the World is Mary Wrightweasner Graf?

There are a few ancestors that I would give anything to know more about and my second great grandmother, Mary Wrightweesner Graf is one of those ancestors.  She left her homeland in Germany, traveled to the United States in 1859, settled in Indiana, and was left a widow at the age of 34 with eight children.  She never remarried and died at the age of 63 in 1898.

Where in the World is Johann Caspar Graf?

One of the first place family historians search for their ancestors is in the United States Census records.  I am compiling my census information into a table format. Each month I share a "Where in the World" post.  Compiling my information this way shows me where I have gaps in my research.

I am to the point with my ancestors where using the census for ancestors isn't as helpful.  I will be adding other record categories to my charts.  City directories, land records, church records, and immigration records are a few of the records that help put a ancestor in a certain place and time.

J. Caspar Graf lived a short ten year life in the United States.  He died at the age of 41.  He left his wife, Mary, and eight children.  The next steps I plan to take in my research of J. Caspar Graf is to look for land records.
