ReplyDeleteHI! my full name is Alexandria Joelle Mast. I wish I had my family tree book with me, but I'd say we are distant cousins. My grandpa tells me that the first mast to come over to America in out family was Jacob Mast. I'd have to get my book out to see how close we are related but I love looking at my family history.
ReplyDeleteAlex, I would be interested in hearing if we are from the same Jacob Mast, my Jacob was considered the immigrant Jacob and there was another Jacob that was a minister. I hope to hear more from you.
ReplyDeleteHello Brenda-

I am sorry for the delay in replying to your comment. Yes, it is still alive and I am trying to do a better job of staying on top of things. Feel free to email me at brae957atgmail.com if you would like to share notes.
ReplyDeleteKith and Kin is a genealogical book it together by the Dixon family includes listings for my branch of the Mast family. As far as I can tell, I am the last leaf on that branch. John (probably Johann) came to the US from Germany in the mid 1800s. I'm not near my computer at the moment to look up details. If you email me I will send you the link to Kith and Kin. If it's no longer on line, I can send you a digital copy.
ReplyDeleteI am also related somewhere on my mom's (knox) side maybe Jacob Michael Thomas 4th grandpa but maust is in my tree
ReplyDeleteThe Mast/Maust family is huge. Keeping everyone straight is a tough task.
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda and Happy New Year! My father’s paternal “Grandmam” was Margaret Elizabeth Mast (1857-1930), born in Rimersberg,PA. Her line also goes back to Uli and I recently saved a post on Ancestry from a publication called “The Historian, Vol. 16, No. 4, dated October 2004. The title of the article was “Notes on the Family of Jacob Mast, immigrant of 1737.” This article traces back to Benedikt Mast (b. 1570 or 1580) in Guggisberg, Switzerland and married twice (1) Elsa Alben (b. Abt. 1565; and (2) Anna Awahlen, (b. Abt. 1574). My email is cleaearly@gmail.com. If you would like the article, I would be happy to send it to you.
