Oct 31, 1833
The above tombstone is for Caroline C. Glover, daughter of Charles Williamson Glover and Mary Ann (Powers) Glover. The stone is more than half buried with dirt and grass. Because of the age of the stone I did not try to expose it.
Caroline C. Glover was born 31 Oct 1833, possibly Ypsilanti, Washtenaw, Michigan, United States. She was a twin to Charles Williamson Glover, Jr.
Caroline died in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, United States on 15 Oct 1893 at the age of 59. She never married. The cause of death was cancer of the heart.
Caroline is buried in Lot 21 Block 100 at Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States.
Caroline's Find a Grave Memorial is Number 138488227.
Charles W. and Mary Ann Glover were admitted to the Ypsilanti Presbyterian church on Jan 2nd, 1834, when she was barely two months old. So she more than likely was born in Ypsilanti! But the census records say N.Y. The documents are attached to the memories of Samuel Stillman Powers.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any record of a Charles Williamson Glover, Jr. Do you have more on him?
I agree she was probably born in Ypsilanti. I don't have anything on Charles, Jr. yet!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading the 1943 transcript of the Hal W. Glover bible, held in the archives of the Ypsilanti Historical Society. (1) Caroline has a middle name: Charity! (2) I found Charles Williamson Glover in the transcript: he was born 31 March 1829, in Phelps, Ontario, New York (implied by the dates), and died in Ypsilanti Township 28 November 1846. Thus he was not a twin of Caroline, but an older brother.
